Privacy Policy

Your crows stay on your phone.

This policy explains what information Crow Friends collects, what it never collects, and the choices you have. We wrote it in plain language on purpose.

Last updated: October 26, 2026

The short version

  • Your crows, feedings, photos, videos, recordings and notes are stored on your phone. We do not receive them.
  • You do not need an account to use Crow Friends.
  • We collect anonymous usage counts and crash reports so we can fix and improve the app. You can turn usage counts off in the app.
  • Payments are handled by Apple or Google. We never see your card number.
  • We measure which ads lead people to install the app. On iPhone that only uses your device's advertising identifier if you allow tracking.
  • We do not sell your personal information.

1. Who we are

Crow Friends is a mobile app and website (together, the "Services") operated by Curvy Coder, LLC, a Florida limited liability company ("we," "us," "our"). When this policy says "you," it means anyone who uses the Services.

2. Who can use Crow Friends

Crow Friends is meant for people who are 13 or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has sent us personal information, email us and we will delete it.

3. What stays on your phone

Crow Friends is built to work on your phone first. The following is stored only on your device, and we do not receive a copy:

  • Your feeding log: dates, times, foods offered and how they went.
  • The crows you name, their descriptions and notes.
  • Photos, videos and sound recordings you add.
  • Trust milestones, gifts and achievements.
  • Your settings, such as your feeding routine, alarm times, trips, the country you picked and any zip or postal code you enter.

Because this information lives on your phone, deleting the app deletes it. The app lets you make a backup file (Me, then Export and import). That file is yours: it is saved wherever you choose to put it, and we never receive it.

If we add optional features in the future, such as cloud backup or sharing data with crow researchers, we will ask for your permission in the app first and update this policy before they launch.

4. What we collect

We collect a limited amount of information to run, fix and improve the Services.

TypeWhat it includesWhy
Anonymous usageEvents such as opening the app, logging a feeding, opening an article, and which screens get used; device type, operating system, app version, language and approximate country. Never your photos, your crows' names, your notes or your address. To understand what is working and what to improve. On by default; you can switch it off in the app (Me, then Privacy and your data).
Crash and error reportsWhat the app was doing when it crashed, device type, operating system and app version. To find and fix bugs.
Purchase statusWhether you have an active subscription or purchase, the product, and dates, linked to a random identifier created by the app. Apple or Google process the payment. To unlock what you paid for and let you restore it on a new phone.
Ad measurementWhich ad or link led to an install, the date, device type and, only where allowed, your device's advertising identifier. To know which ads work, so we spend our marketing budget wisely.
Messages you send usYour email address and whatever you write to us.To answer you.
WaitlistThe email address you type into the waitlist box on this website, and the date you joined. To send you one email when the app is out. Reply with the word "remove" at any time and we delete it.

We do not collect your name, your precise location, your contacts, or the content you create in the app.

5. Phone permissions

The app only asks for a permission when you use the feature that needs it. You can change any of these in your phone's settings.

  • Camera and photos: to add pictures and videos of your crows. They stay on your phone.
  • Microphone: to record crow calls. Recordings stay on your phone.
  • Notifications: for your feeding alarm and reminders. These are scheduled on your phone.
  • Location (optional): if the app asks for it and you allow it, your location is used on your phone to show the birds, seasons and rules for your area. It is not sent to us.
  • Tracking (iPhone): Apple lets you choose whether apps may use your device's advertising identifier. If you choose "Ask App Not to Track," we do not use it.

6. How we use information

  • To provide the Services and unlock purchases.
  • To find and fix crashes and bugs.
  • To understand, in aggregate, how the app is used and improve it.
  • To measure our advertising.
  • To answer questions and support requests.
  • To protect the Services, prevent fraud, and meet legal obligations.

7. Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only with companies that help us run the Services, under agreements that limit how they may use it:

ProviderWhat they do for us
Apple and GoogleApp distribution and payments
RevenueCatKeeps track of subscription and purchase status
PostHogAnonymous usage analytics
SentryCrash and error reports
AppsFlyer and MetaMeasuring which ads lead to installs
Google WorkspaceOur email
VercelHosting this website
ResendStores the waitlist and sends our emails to you

We may also share information if the law requires it, to protect the rights and safety of our users or others, or as part of a merger, sale or transfer of our business, in which case this policy continues to apply.

Under some state laws, letting advertising partners measure ads can count as "sharing" personal information for advertising. You can opt out of that at any time, see section 8.

8. Your choices

  • Usage counts: turn off "Share anonymous usage" in the app under Me, then Privacy and your data.
  • Ad tracking on iPhone: Settings, then Privacy and Security, then Tracking.
  • Ad tracking on Android: Settings, then Privacy (or Google), then Ads, where you can delete or reset your advertising ID.
  • Opt out of sharing for advertising: email us at admin@crowfriends.app with the subject "Do not sell or share." We also honor Global Privacy Control signals on this website.
  • Permissions: change them any time in your phone's settings.
  • Your data on your phone: export it, or delete it by deleting the app.

9. How long we keep it

We keep usage and crash information only as long as it is useful for improving the app, generally no longer than 24 months. Purchase records are kept as long as needed for your purchase and for tax and accounting rules. Support emails are kept as long as needed to help you, and then deleted.

10. Security

We use reputable providers and protect information in transit with encryption. No system is perfectly secure, so we also keep what we collect to a minimum. Your crow data on your phone is protected by your phone's own security, so keep a passcode on your device.

11. United States privacy rights

Depending on where you live, including California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Texas, Oregon and other states, you may have the right to:

  • Know what personal information we have about you and get a copy.
  • Ask us to correct or delete it.
  • Opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information for targeted advertising.
  • Not be treated differently for using these rights.
  • Appeal if we decline your request, by replying to our decision.

To make a request, email admin@crowfriends.app. We may need to confirm the request is really from you. Because most of your data never leaves your phone and the rest is anonymous, we may hold little or nothing we can connect to you, and we will tell you if that is the case. You may use an authorized agent where the law allows.

12. Outside the United States

We are based in the United States, and information we collect is processed there. If you are in Canada, the United Kingdom, the European Economic Area or another region with privacy laws, you have the rights those laws give you, including access, correction, deletion and objection.

Where those laws require a legal basis, we rely on your consent (for example, analytics and ad tracking you allow), on what is needed to provide what you asked for (for example, purchases), and on our legitimate interest in keeping the app working and secure. You can withdraw consent at any time and complain to your local data protection authority.

13. This website

crowfriends.app does not use advertising cookies and has no sign-in. If you join the waitlist, we keep only your email address and the date, as described in section 4. Our host keeps standard server logs, such as IP address and browser type, to keep the site running and secure. The site loads fonts from Google Fonts, which receives your IP address when the page loads.

14. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top. If a change is significant, we will also tell you in the app before it takes effect.
